Monk Makes Raspberry Pi Electronic Starter Kit – Project 1. Make an LED Blink

Posted: March 13, 2014 by schoolpiclub in General News

We had an extra School Pi Club today to check out our new Monk Makes Raspberry Pi Electronic Starter Kit.

The kit was kindly donated by the White Family – THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

The initial set up was very straight forward thanks to the easy-to-follow ‘Getting Started’ card. Today we checked out Project 1 – Make an LED Blink.

NJ took the lead with this project whilst JW guided him through the process. From the instruction card it wasn’t clear if the resistor should go in the slot D5 or B5 so we tested both. B5 was the correct one.

We were thrilled when we ran the python script and the LED started to flash!

We then had a closer look at the python code and changed the timing slightly between the LED flashing on and off.

At the next School Pi Club we shall be doing Project 2 – Make 2 LEDs Blink; TW will be taking the lead on that project.

School Pi Club – highly recommends the Monk Makes Kit!/~/product/category=0&id=32645469
